Bumpers...

A few weeks ago when my parents were here, Jeremiah woke up one night twice in the middle of the night.  The first time I ignored him thinking he would go back to sleep, then a half an hour later, he woke up again crying.  I finally went in and checked on him and he had his leg caught through the slats of the crib.  The next morning at nap time his leg got caught again.  So needless to say, we put up the bumpers and he has slept GREAT ever since!

These are a few room decorations I added- his initials- his name is too long and it would be too expensive to put his whole first name.  I put a little clothesline of pictures that I am hoping to add to possibly a pic a month of him.  And Grandma Renner painted that elephant for Michael when he was young and now Jeremiah has it in his room.  Jeremiah also enjoys TOYS- needless to say, every time I put him on the ground- he heads straight for that toy basket!  He is a curious little boy these days- not crawling just rolling everywhere!

A Visit from Pop-pop and Mom-mom...

Last weekend, my parents came for a visit- Jeremiah got a lot of love from them...  He got plenty of stories- even an interactive Jonah story with a real whale!

He got a trip to Jungle Jims and we took them to Ikea- though Jeremiah stayed at home with dad and slept through that one.  We took them to a Hebrew Union picnic Thurs. night to celebrate the beginning of school.  And we took them down to Findlay Market downtown- we had Sarah Brown over for dinner Friday night.  We had a cookout with the Lyons on Sunday.
Jeremiah even helped pay the bill at Walt's BBQ  right nextdoor.
And Jeremiah made his grandparents do push-ups- how about that!

He even got to journey in a rainforest thanks to m mom who brought a new toy!

Thanks for the great weekend Pop-pop and Mom-mom, Mom and Dad!  Do come back to the Lyons' B & B any time!

My Zucchini...

So I planted a garden in the back of our apartment/house this year- dug it up with my bare hands!  Unfortunately, little critters such as ground hogs and even big critters such as deer have been eating my (would be) prize tomatoes, zucchini, watermelon, broccoli and strawberry plants.  Well, the other day while I was dutifully watering my garden- low and behold, I lifted up a leaf and saw a HUGE zucchini!  Note- that is a baby spoon I am comparing it with below but you still get the picture- how did I miss such a big thing!  Anyway- we are enjoying a lot of stir fry zucchini and zucchini bread at our house!  Yum!!!!

Cloth Diapering...

Well, today I have joined the ranks of many women that I know and love in the cloth diapering world.  Thank you to many moms out there that I have pestered and asked over and over again to show me how these things work.  After a few months of talking to moms and researching, I finally broke down and bought some cloth diapers and started Jeremiah on them today.  Ask me at the end of the week how it is going!  (Special thanks to my sister-in-law, Laura Lyons for really showing me how the diapers work and for giving me some inserts and a cover and detergent and for answering all my cloth diapering questions!)  So I have been a bit overwhelmed at all the diversity of cloth diapers out there.  It finally came down to seeing what my sister-in-law uses and actually trying it for myself.  It has taken me so long to figure out all the lingo that goes along with cloth diapers so it took me a while to join the ranks.  I am motivated by trying to reduce our costs as much as possible and seeing how diapers cost a lot, I figure this is an area that could save us A LOT!!!  Especially when your husband is in school and you are living on a sufficient but minimal income.  So here is what I got...  Bum Genius Flips.

More Friends...

Jeremiah loves to roll these days- he is starting to get around.  This weekend he put his knees up from under him and I think he might be trying to crawl at any moment.  He is exploring everything which makes me busy when he is awake.  Two weeks ago, I went for the day back up to Cedarville, took a walk around the campus and visited a sweet friend- Meredith Irving and her three girls.  They all loved watching Jeremiah and it was fun to see them growing up as well as visit with Meredith!  I really enjoyed seeing Meredith's schedule for her girls for this fall and for homeschooling!  I really admire you moms out there who homeschool your kids as I know it can be long and hard to get much else done during the day!

Pop-Pop and Mom-Mom Come Today...

Jeremiah is very excited today as his Pop-pop and Mom-mom arrive today!  We are excited to spend a long weekend with them!  We will start by taking them to the Hebrew Union picnic tonight- which should be fun!  School for Michael starts on Monday already and he is busily preparing himself for his classes!  Year number 1 finished and on to year number 2!  Please pray for us if you think about it as we transition back into school mode even though Michael has been taking an online class of German all summer!
Last week, I took Jeremiah to Winton Woods for a walk and we did a mini photo shoot!  So I am not the best photographer and I don't want to pay a lot of money for photos but I LOVE pictures- so I brought some of J's favorite friends and we tried to capture the nice day- at least he smiled!

Cincinnati Zoo & Good Friends

Last weekend was half off at the Cincinnati Zoo, so one day Jeremiah called his dad and said that he would LOVE to go see the lions at the zoo.  So last Friday, we took a day trip to take in the sites of our zoo here just 15 minutes away right near Hebrew Union.  Though Jeremiah was still a little too young to appreciate all the zoo had to offer, his parents on the other hand had a great time!  Jeremiah loved especially the penguins as we watched them swimming in their tank.

Yes, this has Hebrew on it!

Yes, I met my first lion!

Kinda like my stuffed lion!

We have a Jumper...

Thanks to Steve & Stephanie Langdon- Jeremiah's new favorite toy is the Jumperoo...
And boy does he LOVE that thing!  He could jump in it for hours!  One day he did jump for 1 1/2 hours.
The boy loves to jump- it looks like a great work out program.

My Baby is 6 Months Old...

Jeremiah is 6 months old today.  I can hardly believe he has reached this milestone.  I have always thought 6 months was a big milestone for babies and I can hardly believe my little guy is so big now.  Jeremiah has changed so much in the past 6 months.

He has gone from being a 7lb. 10 oz sleepy, colicky little boy to a very happy, active 6 month old.  Jeremiah has been doing better with taking solid foods- mainly oatmeal cereal and he is all over the floor- rolling from one side to the next.  He loves to grab his toys and his latest love is his Jumperoo- thanks to Steve & Stephanie Langdon from church.  The other day he jumped for 1 1/2 hours barely with any breaks.  Though he does stop to put his head down for a minute or so- but not for long.  He is a smiley, happy little boy and we are so grateful to the Lord for these past 6 months.  He is a true joy and blessing to our family and we pray that He grows to love and treasure Christ!  He truly is a most special and precious gift that we do not take for granted.  Happy 6 months to Jeremiah Michael!  :)

Jeremiah & his Cuz

Over the last several weeks, Jeremiah has gotten to meet his cousin Jonathan for the first time.  The video I posted was a glimpse of their first meeting together.  This is his one and only cousin so far.  Jonathan is 6 weeks younger and the two of them are so funny together.  Ben & Laura (Michael's brother) moved from Vermont to Cincinnati for the time being.  They are currently working on fixing up the apartment below us so we are going to be neighbors!  We are hoping the two J's become fast friends.  For now, it is fun to watch them just try to hit each other.  On Tuesday & Thursday and sometimes Saturdays- Laura brings Jonathan over and she helps work on the apartment and Jeremiah gets to hang with his cuz.  Though they are on opposite schedules- one sleeps and the other wakes up- it is a small glimpse into what it would look like to have twins- busy... :)  We are enjoying some family time with Michael's sister Beka too- in fact tonight we are hosting an "official" Lyons' Family Game Night.  I'm not sure which game we are going to play- but maybe a round of Mexican Trains or Farkle.  Though I like games, I tend to not be a very competitive spirit and would much prefer a private deep conversation, but alas the Lyons love games so I must join them.  :)  Here's to family fun and game night with pizza and brownies too!

Mommy- I like my bath now!

Jeremiah is now eating cereal- he likes Oatmeal and after a few tries is finally getting the hang of it.
