Week #1 or Lyons Out West Adventure

 Lyons Out West Log ...  Week #1

Friday, June 16th-  Left Columbia, South Carolina and headed to Memphis tennessee. We had a lovely dinner with Bob and Linda Dawkins.  They surprised us with a lovely dinner and wonderful games for the kids and she even had prizes for them. They also blessed us with a special present for a trip. Their neighbor also gave us snacks for our road trip which was super special.

Saturday, June 17th-  We left Memphis Tennessee and headed through Little Rock Arkansas and some of the Ozarks and spent the night in Salida, Kansas at a Country Inn & Suites.  We had Michael's Father's Day dinner at Red Robin in Wichita Kansas.  

Sunday, June 18th-  We left Salida and headed through the state of Kansas to Colorado springs. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with a Fentons and then headed to the cabin.

Monday, June 19-  We explored the Garden of the Gods in the morning and then went to Focus on the Family welcome center in the afternoon.  We stopped and got groceries at Walmart and had a rotisserie chicken for dinner.

Tuesday, June 20th-  We did a wonderful hike called the Crags hike. We really enjoyed the wonderful hike through lush Forest up to a wonderful overlook.  We had spaghetti for dinner.

Wednesday, June 21st-  We enjoyed the day hiking with the v's at Mueller State park. We did The Rock pond trail and it was a lovely hike. Then Michael and I got to go out to dinner at Woodland Park while Mark and Becky graciously watched her kids and fed them dinner. We found a place called judges char-broiled diner.

Thursday, June 22nd-  We drove up Pikes Peak on the highway to the sky for the day. Poor Judah was very sick and ended up throwing up the whole trip up the mountain and at the top at the visitors center. We then drove to the Air Force academy and stopped in to see the v's house. We ate dinner at Roy's barbecue in Woodland Park for supper.

Friday, June 23rd- We enjoyed the day hiking around Elder-Fehn trail and the reservoir there with the Fentons. They came to the cabin for dinner and we had hot dogs and fruits and chips.

Saturday, June 24th- We took a day trip to Buena Vista for the day. We enjoyed our hike on the Colorado trail and a walk along the River Walk.  We got ice cream at Louie's.  

Sunday, June 25th-  We left Colorado springs and hiked some in Red Rock canyon and then headed to rapid City South dakota. We did make a stop at Mount Rushmore. We ate at Inferno fire grilled pizza.
