Josiah is 5

Josiah turn 5 yesterday.  Daddy  out took himt get a donut in the morning. We awoke to a layer of snow in the morning so as soon as we got up the kids wanted to go out to play in the snow. We went for a few rounds on the sled and then came in to do some school. We had a friend over for lunch with  Josiah's favorite mac and cheese.  In the evening we had pizza, open his presents and watched a movie with snow lightly falling outside.  Josiah was pretty excited to open his presents this year. He is a fun-loving little boy. He is really grown in his ability to do school and loves to sit and write and trace things and do mazes.  He loves to study things and is very cautious. He's still a quiet kid but has grown in his voice and explaining how things work. He's very passionate about everything he talks about. His favorite activity is playing house with Lydia and following her around with whatever she wants to do. We are so thankful for this little boy and how God is working in his heart.

A pet...

For Jeremiah's birthday we decided we are going to get him a pet. The theme for a birthday month this year is pet month.  We have been busy going to pet stores and yesterday took a field trip to Exotics and Aquatics, and amazing aquarium that has live sharks and manta rays, puffer fish, eels and even piranhas. For his birthday,  I wrapped up a stuffed turtle and he is looking forward to picking out a pet. He has been asking for a dog for years now though that is not the pet we are going to get. We are now in the process of researching which pet would be good for our family, something small and low maintenance. Stay tuned for more...

Mother Daughter Tea

For Lydia's birthday, we hosted a mother daughter tea. We had soup and little sandwiches and macaroni and cheese. The girls loved being together and playing house and dress up.  We made pound cake and strawberries and whipped cream together which we served. We had so much fun serving these ladies.

Lydia is 7!!!!

Lydia turned 7.  She went out for her traditional birthday donut with daddy in the morning.  We then did a normal day of school with her.  At night she wanted chocolate chip pancakes and bacon and fruit.  She helped me make a pound cake with strawberries and whipped cream for dessert. We ended the night with Aunt Sarah coming for dinner and watching Frozen and opening gifts. Lydia has grown in her excitement for life over this year.  She is very exuberant and gets very excited about things. She has become so helpful with Josiah and Joel.  She is quick to play with Josiah house in the morning and also rooms with Joel and takes care of him.  She loves to play dress up, play with her dolls and play house.  She is very organized and does a great job organizing her room, keeping her school books in order and any tasks I give her to do she is a hard worker.  Weare so thankful for little Lydia's life and how the Lord is at work in her.

Family visit

We enjoyed so much I visit this weekend from family.  We were sad that Rachel and her kids could not come because of the flu. We were able to see a basketball game, visit the Creation museum, jump on a trampoline and go down to the riverfront.  It was a blessing to spend extra time with our new sister-in-law, Julee.

2 ladies

I am so  thankful for these two ladies in my life. Michael's Grandma turned 102 this year and every other Monday we have been trying to visit Lorraine Loomans. She is so gracious with me and my kids and we gain so much wisdom from visiting her. There is great value in sitting at the feet of these godly women that have lived in such a different day and age than my kids are growing up in.
