Dead Sea Scrolls

This past Saturday, Michael took a few people from our church on a tour through the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the Museum Center!  Thanks to Ben & Laura for watching Jman- I was able to go to!  Honestly, it reminded me a lot of Israel as we saw different pictures and artifacts from Israel and then saw the scrolls.  Michael did a great job pointing out everything and I feel like I learned a lot!  It was also amazing to think that we were actually at Qumran this summer where they were found!  Michael pointed out a manuscript of Psalm 119 that Michael pointed out a variation in the Hebrew word where they used a different script and word for Yahweh!  Since Hebrew Union is sponsoring the exhibit- they also had many pictures of Tel Dan where Michael dug this summer- he may be getting the itching to go back.  Then our sweet friends Mark & Becky V invited everyone back for some soup and fellowship!  I think we may have requests from a few others from church that may want Michael to lead a tour for them.

A few more weeks...

OK.  So I put one picture of how big I am on the blog. :)  Thankful that I am still feeling pretty well other than a lingering cough mainly at night when I am trying to sleep and a few aches and pains when I overdue it too much- usually on Mondays which is laundry day.  We had an appt. on Wednesday and thought it was really funny as the sweet little lady was so shocked we had an ultrasound and didn't find out "for sure" what the baby was- so she wheeled in the ultrasound machine and took a look for another 10 minutes.  The funny thing is that she still could not tell what sex the baby was for sure.  Our baby must be really modest.  So we have 3 more weeks to go- maybe 4 until we know "for sure."  I told her that I was just thankful for a glimpse of the little one and assured to see everything seems to be going well.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah & I have a quite day today as Daddy has church duties tonight for an Elders meeting.  I am trying to work on my list of things to get done in the next few weeks- we will see how it goes!  Jeremiah has been loving trying on my shoes and walking around in them- even if they are "girl" shoes.

Oh That Boy!

Well, last week, we had quite the week in the Lyons' Den!  I was struggling with a nagging cold and cough and because of that struggling to sleep at night.  I had hoped to not get sick before the baby comes but alas, there is just a lot of sickness going around this year.  Friday, I was at my OB appointment and while I was gone- Jeremiah managed to lock Daddy out of the apartment as he opened the door to get his shoes.  He slammed the door behind him and locked it.  Michael- being a little frantic- tried to get Jeremiah to unlock but the kid just knocked back saying, "Dadda."  So needless to say, he used one of my weights on the landing and tried to bust down the door (or just take out the door knob).  Ben came to the rescue to help and as they got through the door- the little boy was sitting on the chair across from them pointing at the door saying, "Uh Oh."  So I came back home to a hole in my door.  Thankfully, Ben worked hard at fixing it this weekend and we have a new door!  I guess you never know what is going to happen while you are away!

Delp Christmas in PA- Part 2

A few other fun activities we did while we were in York.  We went bowling for my sister's birthday.  Jeremiah tried to help my mom bowl but the ball didn't get too far down the lane.

We also visited my Mom-mom who lives near Philadelphia.  She had not seen Jeremiah in a year so it was fun to visit with her and have lunch with her.

We also took a trip to York's version of "Festival of Lights" except it is not as big as the Cincinnati Zoo's lights.  The County puts on the light display so it is a little cheesy but it was still fun except the night we chose to go it was soooo cold!

We also went out to breakfast for Rachel's birthday on December 31st- the whole crew!  And Jeremiah enjoyed playing and playing at Pop-pop & Mom-mom's house.
Mike & Rachel were so gracious to take us out to dinner on January 1st.  We had so much fun hanging out with them and spending time together on a double date- it was really fun!!  So in a nutshell, that was our trip to York.  We were thankful to be there but thankful to come home as my back was really feeling the affects of traveling to a new place later in pregnancy.

Delp Christmas in PA- part 1

Over Christmas, we headed to York, PA to visit my parents and siblings and friends.  We could entitle this visit- the shadow of Pop!  Jeremiah followed Pop everywhere and wanted to help with cooking, wanted Pop to read to him, he wanted to watch Wheels on Bus with Pop.  Even now, the little boy will find a picture of Pop on our coasters or on the fridge and hold up his hands so that Pop can pick him up.  He always does this when we Skype too- guess he doesn't understand the miles- I mean Pop should be able to "pop" over through the screen to say hello, right!
Christmas reading & presents

We had some snow in PA and Jeremiah was trying to throw snowballs at my dad and dad was also teaching him how to shovel.

My dad always quotes this poem- his dad used to quote it a lot. :)

A Fathers Thought......

A careful man I ought to be,
A little fellow follows me,
I do not dare to go astray,
For fear that he'll go the selfsame way,
Not once can I escape his eyes,
What e'er he see's me do he tries,
Like me he says he's going to be,
That little chap who follows me,
I must remember as I go,
through summer sun and winter snow,
I'm molding for the years to be,
That little chap who follows me!

I also got to visit with Sara Fillmann- my best friend all throughout high school and roomies in college!  Her two sweet kids came over to play and Sara and I got to visit a little bit.

One More Month...

Ok, so I really don't like posting pictures of my belly...  But we can hardly believe that, Lord willing, we will get to meet our little daughter or son (as we are not totally sure which one) in about a month!  I am due Feb. 15th and Jeremiah turns two on February 7th- hard to believe we are getting closer and our little boy is getting older.  I cannot really complain about my pregnancy- but at around this point, I am starting to realize why when Jeremiah was born, I felt so much lighter and free after he was born.  Being this far along is a good motivation never to gain too much weight.  We are enjoying this last week before Michael heads back to class next week.
This is Michael at 30 weeks- so a few weeks ago- doesn't he look great!  Amazing!  :)

Christmas with the Lyons

I am a little behind in blogging about our celebrations of Christmas.  On Christmas Day- we enjoyed time at home with our little family for the first time in our married life- then we headed to the Lyons' house for Christmas dinner and time together.  The boys definitely enjoyed playing with all of their trucks and new toys!  We had a nice day together.  On Wed. we had a snow day so we stayed home and packed for our trip to York and wondered if we would even get to go to York the next morning.  But thankfully the snow had cleared and we headed out- we had a really early morning 6am flight and had to get up at 3am- not so much fun for us but it was nice to have the whole day with my parents.

Jeremiah & His blankie- he has been definitely seen holding it a lot more often!

Gigi even made Beka a sailboat she had been wanting!

Our Family Christmas

This year we enjoyed our first Christmas in all our years of marriage in our own home!  We enjoyed a quiet morning together and had a breakfast casserole.  I got Michael a donut maker and tried my hand at gluten free donuts and he said they were pretty good so I think we will be making them again!

We then told the Christmas story with Jeremiah's Little People Nativity set and sang a few songs.  We then opened up gifts to one another and enjoyed spending time together!  We have little stockings that sometimes I stick some candy in for each of us- Jeremiah got a snake in his this year.  We didn't get Jeremiah a ton of gifts but I think his favorite gift that I found at Once Upon A Child was his school bus!  The kid is obsessed with buses!

Our Christmas family picture!

And then we just had fun together- this is Jeremiah's "Christmas pjs" from his Aunt Sarah!  Every year I like to get a fun pair of pjs for him and this year it had "fire trucks" on it- his favorite!
