Field Trip

We took a field trip to the John Rankin house in Ripley, Ohio.  It was so fun to learn more about the Underground Railroad right here in Ohio.  We learned about how John Rankin had 9 children and had a little house on a hill where he would leave the light on so slaves could see from the river below.  His home was a refuge for many people trying to escape to freedom.  We also visited John Parker's house on the river.  We also visited Ulysses S. Grant's birthplace.  Jeremiah wrote a paper on this President that was born in Ohio.

Maundy Thursday

Maunday Thursday we died Easter eggs with the cousins. In the morning we told the story of Jesus last supper and I washed the kids feet symbolizing Jesus washing the disciples feet. We acted out the story of The last supper, hit our Resurrection eggs and watched an amazing video from church each day that our children's director put on.

Josiah turns 6

Josiah just turned 6!  He wanted for his birthday, breakfast casserole so after church we ate lunch together.  Our theme for birthdays this year was Narnia.  We spent the month of February listening to Narnia books on Cd at dinner time.  It was a nice break and made dinner special and the dinner table a lot quieter.  This is the "Narnia" cake I made.  We are thankful for Josiah.  He is a sweet boy.  He loves to observe and give details about many things.  He loves to play with Joel and Lydia too.  He has really grown to love Legos and he loves to build a fort in his bed.  He is slow in what he does but is very observant.  Josiah really loves to play with matchbox cars with Joel.  He is really skilled at driving a plasma car.  Josiah has been learning to read this year and doing really well.  He is starting to write words and read little Bob books.  We are thankful for this boy the Lord has given us!

Lydia turns 8!!

Lydia just turned 8 years old!  Birthdays looked a little different this year.  Lydia wanted for her birthday dinner, Chicken Pasta Toss.  We made her dinner and did a family movie.  The next day we went tubing with a homeschool group for her and Jeremiah's birthday.  On Sunday, we just had a little tea part with 3 friends and their moms.

Lydia has grown into a sweet girl.  She has really flourished in her big sister role this year.  She loves taking care of baby Judah.  She has been so helpful with watching Judah while I rested.  She has really grown in her love for drawing and crafts.  She loves to sit in her room and color and listen to audio books, a favorite this year is Little House on the Prairie.  She loves to play house and play with her siblings.  She has really grown in her reading this year and is starting her first chapter book.  She is really good at helping and cleaning and very organized with her room and sorting things.  She is such a sweet girl and we are so thankful for her!

Happy 8th Birthday Lydia!!!!
